This is not just a simple remix, but part of a deeper story:
When Andrew Weatherall unexpectedly passed away almost three years ago, Alan Mackenzie (D:ream , Field Of Dreams) channeled the sudden loss of his musical comrade in a track: 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗢𝗻 (a nod also to Andrew's most famous tattoo).
I was overwhelmed by the track right from the first listen. I immediately felt what Al was trying to express in this wonderful piece of music. There was more than music or sounds, it had an energy and warmth that went purely beyond the audible level. This energy was literally standing in front of me in space, it was tangible and changeable. I literally wanted to scream "Wait, wait! I know what you want to say with this! I can think of some more suitable words for it right away!"
Al became a strong supporter of my music over the last few years, which fortunately allowed me to get to know him a little better. I wrote him - quite untypical for me - immediately and told him about my experience and the urge to add something here. Actually a very bold undertaking, considering the reason and the strong personal aspects in this track. But Al encouraged me immediately and over time the interpretation of his tribute took shape, which we are happy to share with you today (in the "AW60 year", celebrating Andrew's 60th birthday later this spring).
